SPEAKER: Xingyi Wang, Hong Kong Polytechnic University

Xingyi Wang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chinese History and Culture at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She was the 2021-2023 Sheng Yen Postdoctoral Fellow of Chinese Buddhism at UC Berkeley and received her MTS (2015) from Harvard Divinity School and Ph.D. (2021) from Harvard University. Her research interests include Buddhist monasticism, Vinaya studies, and Buddhist ethics. Her doctoral dissertation focused on the commentarial tradition of the Dharmaguptaka Vinaya and the formation of the Vinaya School through the cultural exchanges between Song China and Kamakura Japan.
