Document and Performance: Artistic Modes of Historicization
A Symposium at the Mahindra Humanities Center at Harvard
March 28-29, 2014
This symposium brings together scholars, artists, and curators whose works deal with and reflect on processes of (re)constructing history in and through documents, as well as in and through performance. By focusing on artistic practices of exploring, collecting, performing, displaying, and disseminating documents, this workshop aims at investigating concepts of the document, documentation, and the politics of (historical) knowledge in the performing arts. The workshop will also direct attention to the encounters and processes of mediation between documents, artists, and spectators, with particular focus on artistic practices in Central and Eastern European countries.
Seating is limited. Please register here.
Sponsored by Volkswagen Foundation and Mahindra Humanities Center at Harvard.
Organized by 2013-14 Postdoctoral Fellow, Daniela Hahn.
