Oleg Kharkhordin
Professor of Political Science and Sociology at the European University of St. Petersburg (EUSP)

Professor Kharkhordin’s many publications include The Collective and the Individual in Russia: A Study of Practices (University of California Press, 1999) and the co-edited collection Political Theory and Community Building in Post-Soviet Russia (Routledge, 2011). As Chair of the Department of Political Science and Sociology at EUSP (1998-2001), he started IMARS (International M.A. in Russian Studies), a novel program for graduate students from Western Europe and North America. Currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the EUSP Endowment, he previously served as Rector of EUSP and has been a member of the Russian Presidential Council for Science and Education since 2012.

His new book, Republicanism in Russia: Community Before and After Communism, is to be published by Harvard University Press in November.
